Tuesday, April 19th
The day was spent in Amsterdam. Weather is cold (in the 50's), windy and sometimes rainy.
Then there was a tour of a diamond "factory". We skipped it and instead went for a walk to the flea market. The flea market was mostly junk. We bouught nothing.
Then there was a trip to the Van Gogh Museum. It was very crowded, but they really did have lots of Van Gogh's paintings, so it was a worthwhile visit. At this point we left the organized tour.
Then we went to the Rijksmuseum. It is mostly closed for restoration; however, what they have on display is quite marvelous. Rembrandt, Jan Steen, Franz Hals, Vermeer, and many more. I was very happy to see this museum, closed or not.
We set sail for Koln in the evening, and during dinner we went through our first lock.
